Carol Calato Jazz Scholarship Winner Announced

Lewiston, NY - The Northwest Jazz Festival Board of Directors is pleased to present Ryan Eckl of Lancaster, NY as the winner of the 2022 Carol Calato Jazz Scholarship. Ryan is a Music Education and Music Performance major at SUNY Potsdam, Crane School of Music. His main performance instrument is the French Horn and also plays the piano, steel drums, electric bass, guitar and drum set. Ryan is the son of John and Denise Eckl.
The scholarship is given out each year to a student pursuing a degree in a music field. The applicants must prepare an audition video and application process. Wayne Moose, John Bacon and Ray Barry served as adjudicators for the scholarship process.
Ryan was presented the $1,000 scholarship by Jazz Festival Chairwoman, and scholarship namesake, Carol Calato.
The Northwest Jazz Festival will take place on Friday, August 26th & Saturday, August 27th in the Village of Lewiston. For additional information, please visit www.LewistonJazz.com
