Niagara Frontier Golf Club is presenting a Sunday Jazz Brunch featuring the jazz sounds of WNY’s own John Bacon Trio on Sunday, August 25 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. A brunch buffet will be featured while attendees can take in the spectacular view of this premier golf course near Lake Ontario, 1058 Lake Rd. in Youngstown, NY. The event is being held in conjunction with the Northwest Jazz Festival.
“This food and music event offers festival-goers an opportunity to keep the party going while giving locals and out of town visitors the chance to extend their stay in the Lower Niagara River Region” said Carol Calato, Northwest Jazz Festival Board Chair.
Reservations for Sunday Jazz Brunch are required by calling the golf club at 716-745-3329, Ext. 204.
Joining Bacon, composer and percussionist, will be Paul LaDuca on bass, a Berklee Music School graduate, and Lisa Hasselback on piano, who is a music educator and part of a legendary musical family of world class musicians. Their repertoire will represent the history of Jazz as a contemporary and artistic American musical form. Expect to hear a wide range of familiar tunes being creatively interpreted by these three master musicians.
Bacon and LaDuca have performed alongside local legends of Jazz that include Bobby Militello, Dave Shiavone, Don Menza and Al Tinney.
Bacon has shared his artistry with festival-goers since its creation in 2001. He leads many groups including Star People and JBQ, and is a member of some of the most prominent Jazz groups in Western New York including the Buffalo Jazz Octet, the UB Faculty Jazz Quartet and the Buffalo Jazz Composers Workshop. He is a music educator at UB and SUNY Fredonia and has been honored as a composer through the New York State Foundation for the Arts (2013 Artist Fellow) and the New York State Council on the Arts (Individual Artist Composer Commission).
In September of 2023 the John Bacon Quintet (JBQ) released the CD “Revolution Blues” on Jazz Dimensions Records.
The buffet will include favorites such as quiche, scrambled eggs, Belgian waffles, gumbo, cornbread, fruit, and more, plus traditional bloody Marys and mimosas will be available. The event is open to the public and all ages are welcome. Cost is $32.95 for adults, 14 and under for $17.95 and under 5 children are free.
